A student reported to campus security late this morning that she was walking southbound with another student on Hamilton just before midnight last night when they passed a group of five individuals; three females and two males. The student reported that one of the females became confrontational and, when they continued walking toward Safeway, she followed and began pulling her hair and striking the student from behind. When the students continued walking, the female eventually stopped. The female was described as African-American, 18-20 years of age. None of the five individuals were believed to be students. The student reported minor injuries, and did not seek out medical treatment. The student did not report the incident to Security or Spokane Police at the time, and was encouraged to file a police report.<\/p>\n

\u2022 If you have to walk, do so in groups especially after dark. Try to use well-lit, busy routes.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Utilize Security escorts to travel across campus: 313-2222.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Be aware of your surroundings.<\/p>\n
\u2022 Report suspicious persons or circumstances immediately to GU Security (313-2222) or SPD (911).<\/p>\n
