General Purpose:
The Aspen/Pitkin County Airport (Airport) Operations Internship trains the student airport intern to become a qualified employee of the aviation industry by providing expert knowledge and experience through the use of practical employment, supportive training programs, and a caring staff. Proactively inspects and patrols all Airport facilities, grounds and properties to ensure regulatory compliance with FAR Part 139, Airport Certification Manual, FAR Part 77, TSR 1542, Airport Security Plan, Pitkin County Code Title 10, Storm Water Management Plan, Spill Prevention & Counter Control Procedures, Wildlife Hazard Management Plan, Noise Abatement and Curfew Procedures, Safety Management System, and other codes, procedures, regulations and policies as may be relevant or enacted from time to time. Takes action as necessary.
Compiles detailed and highly accurate reports, logs, maintenance requests and takes action as necessary to correct deficiencies.
Ensures safety of Airport for aviation users by observing runway, weather and airfield conditions. Issues accurate and timely Airport condition reports including but not limited to NOTAMs (Notices to Airmen).
Effectively and efficiently communicates pertinent and timely Airport information to other Airport employees, tenants, contractors, and users.
Responds to, investigates and documents emergency, critical or unusual events occurring on Airport property. Acts as Airport representative on-scene during emergencies, and provides logistical support to fire, law enforcement or medical responders. Participates fully in the Incident Command System.
Provides proactive roving and immediate response coverage for the entire Airport complex to ensure safety and security, as well as a pleasant Airport experience.
Delivers high level of customer service to Airport customers, including but not limited to tenants, aviation users and community, by responding appropriately to requests, complaints and inquiries about the Airport and its services.
Monitors air traffic control radio traffic, responds to direct requests for assistance, and self-dispatches, as necessary.
Acts as liaison between Airport middle and upper management and Airport users, customers and stakeholders, as required.
Provides administrative assistance and support to Airport Operations Coordinator with regular review and update of various documents, manuals and Airport data as published in various aids to pilots.
Conducts research, provides administrative support and assistance, as may be necessary, to upper and middle Airport management, as assigned by or through the Airport Operations Coordinator.
Maintains regular and reliable attendance.
Other Functions:
Conducts snow removal from airside and landside areas of the Airport as a member of the Snow Removal Team using light- and heavy-duty motorized and manual equipment.
Stays current on pertinent Airport and aviation industry developments, including but not limited to new and revised regulations, advisories and alerts, and industry trends, both locally and nationwide, that could have an effect on Aspen Airport.
Procures and assists department head in procuring goods and services in accordance with County policy.

Job Description:
This is a highly unique opportunity in that interns selected for this position will be exposed to the inner workings of a “Boutique Advertising Agency.” In this capacity, the intern will participate in all aspects of the “boutique model” and thus be afforded the opportunity to experience and be “exposed” to a multiplicity of aspects relative to this organization. This includes observing the development of concept and campaign development, involvement in the copywriting process relative to all marketing processes, promotional material, websites, and press releases. Interns are involved in conducting research; learning and understanding the nuances and process of stock imagery research; involvement in scheduling events, meetings, photo/video shoots, the model selection process; copywriting protocol and supporting processes; observing and assisting on photo and video shoots; observing the development process for media placements on an as needed basis; learning the process involved in the development of client estimating and in addition to involvement with standard, basic administrative work relative to the advertising and marketing field.
Job Qualifications:
Required Qualifications: Minimum GPA of 3.0. Be comfortable working in an ever-changing office environment. Must work well in teams and collaborative situations. Must have a professional attitude, be meticulous and be able to work at a quick pace when necessary. Strong verbal and written communication skills are a must. Individuals majoring in marketing, advertising, communication and/or business marketing or who have worked in advertising, marketing, or public relations fields are encouraged to apply.
Preferred Qualifications: Those with prior office and administrative experience with strong proficiency in Microsoft Office programs are encouraged to apply. College graduates, and students graduating in 2013 also encouraged to apply.
