Social Media Community Manager

Position Overview

Report to Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications

Pay: $8 – 12/Hr.

Social Media

Engage Gonzaga constituents within various social media venues, primarily (but not limited to) Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and LinkedIn.

Help to keep key Gonzaga web pages and sites engaging and interactive, such as Admissions, Alumni, Support GU, News site, University Center site, Ask Spike and more.

Write regular posts, create polls and applications as well as update pages in order to create an inviting environment that attracts likes/followers and meets social media strategy objectives.

Work with GU departments, Schools and the College to promote their programs and pages, create social media strategies, standardize their pages and follow central guidelines.

Help to lead monthly social media leadership team meetings and quarterly user’s meetings.

Help meet goals/objectives of social media strategy through research, new ideas, measurement  and strategy refinement.

Ask Spike and Other

This position manages Gonzaga’s virtual mascot/guide, “Ask Spike.” This is part of a partnership with alumnus and Trustee-owned Next IT. This will require special training, monitoring of chats and updating the knowledge base for Spike.

Assist Assistant Vice President of Marketing and Communications (AVP) and project managers with public relations, marketing and web projects.

Assist AVP with organizational and operational duties such as filing, research, project planning, etc.

Assist with updating Gonzaga.edu web pages via the content management system (no web programming or development skills necessary).
