Join the Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) Program

Hello Gonzaga University,

We need your help in recruiting top students from you alma mater for our student ambassador program – the Microsoft Student Partner (MSP) Program. This will take you no more than 5 minutes.

Since 2001, Microsoft Student Partners evangelize Microsoft technologies and programs on campuses across the US. Over the years, the Microsoft Student Partners have grown and nurtured a community of 100K+ students passionate about Microsoft technologies, helped students learn new skills and strengthened Microsoft’s relationship with universities and faculty.  As MSPs are the greatest source of inspiration for students and Microsoft’s strongest voice on campus, we want to recruit outstanding students who will help us make a lasting impact in the education space.

ACTION: Please help get the word out about the MSP Program, in your own words, or by forwarding the emails to student organizations and faculty.

We are looking for students who are passionate about technology, outgoing, excited about the idea of building and nurturing a community, are active members within the student community, and enjoy working with other students in-person and through social media. As MSPs, student will interact with like-minded students and student organizations at their school to extend their network, sharpen their technical skills to become subject matter experts on Microsoft technologies for their campus, learn real-life skills to increase their employability, and get mentored and coached from respected, industry professionals. Also, they’ll be rewarded for their great participation through monthly compensation, technical trainings, and hardware.

Seattle Trek

Zags – consider attending the Seattle trek over break! It will take place January 9 and only costs $35 (It’s also only $50 if you attend both the Seattle and Portland treks!). Following is a list and bios of companies that we will visiting on the Seattle trek. PACCAR is a global technology leader in the design, manufacture and customer support of premium light-, medium- and heavy-duty trucks under the Kenworth, Peterbilt and DAF nameplates. The company also provides customized financial services, information technology, and truck parts related to its principal business. Kymeta is a Gonzaga Regent-owned, international telecommunications company. Kymeta is developing the next generation antennas for satellite communications enabling new types of mobile and fixed services. This is a special Engineering-focused excursion geared towards all Engineering and Computer Science majors. All Class Years. Areas of Interest: All disciplines of Engineering, Computer Science, Business.

Nordstrom, Inc. is an American upscale fashion retailer. Among their competitors, such Bloomingdales and Saks Fifth Avenue, Nordstrom has both the largest number of store locations and the largest geographic footprint. All Major/All Class Years. Areas of Interest: Broad focus, including Business, Sales, Marketing, Operations, Retail.
BDA Inc. provides marketing services and branded merchandise for large companies, major sports leagues and global entertainment holding firms. BDA is a creative company that thinks beyond the common perception of promotional merchandise and ordinary marketing. Amazon.com, Inc. is an American international e-commerce company and is the largest online retailer in the world. Amazon also produces consumer electronics—notably the Amazon Kindle e-book reader and the Kindle Fire tablet computer—and is a major provider of cloud computing services. All Major/All Class Years. Areas of Interest: Broad focus, including Marketing, Merchandising, Advertising, Retail Management, Business Administration.

The University of Washington Medical School excursion is a special healthcare-focused excursion geared toward both nursing students and students hoping to continue on to medical school following undergraduate studies. All Major/All Class Years. Areas of Interest: Nursing, Health Sciences, Biology, Chemistry, Healthcare Management.

Rick Collins will provide insights on how students can translate the knowledge and experience acquired at Gonzaga into a meaningful career field. Rick has taken a number of twists and turn in his own career and he will discuss how he was able to transfer his prior academic and career experiences into a variety of new and emerging career fields. Rick will also discuss the importance of personal branding and how to differentiate your Gonzaga experience in ways that have relevance for employers and sets you apart from your competition.

Bio of Rick Collins:

A GU alum with a Bachelor of Arts in Business and Communications, Rick Collins is currently Director of Business Development at Microsoft, with a focus on partnerships with Mobile phone companies and Broadband service providers to jointly distribute Microsoft devices and services to consumers and businesses around the world.

With a career spanning multiple industries including broadcasting, corporate marketing and communications, business training and education, and consumer software and services, Rick has consistently called on important learnings from his GU experience to help drive his own personal success and the success of the people and companies he has worked with throughout his career.

He joins us Tuesday, March 26th to share his insights on career success, and his thoughts on using the unique value of the GU experience and education for career advancement and growth.
