About the Position:

We’re looking for a dynamic and talented leader to who will manage, all aspects of the First Night Spokane New Year’s Eve annual event, as well as the monthly First Friday events, and the curation of visual arts for the Kress Gallery. The Executive Director will have the oversight and management of the fiscal responsibility and operational integrity for these events, as well as other duties specifically assigned by the Board of Directors. This position requires demonstrated success in fundraising, board support and leadership. Successful candidates must bring a strong knowledge of fundraising, ability to lead/develop teams and proven experience managing the day-to-day operations of a non-profit organization.

Program Oversight & Operations Include, but are not limited to:

  • Oversee all aspects of First Night Spokane’s program planning, implementation, evaluation and overall event quality.
  • Create, develop and present fundraising and sponsorship proposals (both cash and in-kind).
  • Research, develop, write and present grant writing opportunities.
  • Establish annual financial goals, operating budget, and the annual event timeline for the approval by the Board of Directors.
  • Plan and direct all aspects of First Night Spokane’s public relations policies, objectives, and ensure that all external communications result in positive public relations.
  • Coordinate and manage all venue selection and contracting of facilities.
  • Coordinate, contract, and supervise all visual and performing artist selections.
  • Selection and coordination for visual and performing artists for First Friday events and for Kress Gallery.
  • Create Strategic partnerships with Musicians Union, Spokane Arts Commission, and other organizations as appropriate.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Communications or other related field; or five-seven years related work experience; or equivalent combination of education and related work experience.
  • Successful event planning experience.
  • Proven record of sales, fundraising and strategic planning.
  • Experience creating and maintaining high-level relationships within the community.
  • Strong knowledge of marketing, media relations and social media.
  • Self-starter and creative thinker with experience producing results in a deadline-driven, fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Experience with a non-profit preferred.

Food System Capacity Coordinator

Catholic Charities’ Food For All (built out of the Vinegar Flats Community Farm), is hiring a new full-time, full-benefits position!

The position, the Food Systems Capacity Coordinator, will take a strong leadership role in facilitating our support of farmers markets as they work to enhance their performance as an affordable, healthy food resource. Much of this work – in particular our leadership in the Farmers Market Access Partnership and administering Fresh Bucks, the SNAP-incentive program – has been recognized for its innovation and role in moving our food system forward economically and socially.

The position’s expectations will be rigorous, and full of opportunity and challenge. We are looking for an innovative thinker who has experience and capacity in partnership-building and program management. We want a leader who can think outside of the box while staying focused on getting clear, sustainable results.

Our team works fast and hard, and is highly supportive while also encouraging autonomy and initiative. The pay is modest (in the ballpark of $30k a year), but has potential for an increased salary starting in 2015. Job Duties/Responsibilities

3. Develop and implement vendor recruitment model for low-income area markets, including pilots of a vendor sales improvement training and a wholesale purchasing incentive initiative.
4. Coordinate with markets and social service agencies to implement a county-wide market promotion strategy as part of the Farmers Market Access Partnership (FMAP).
5. Participate in meetings & activities with FMAP partners state-wide to identify best-practices and resources available for partner markets.
6. Develop and implement family-outreach activities model for markets in low-income neighborhoods. Work with Liberty Park Child Development Center and the South Perry FM in 2014 in this work.
7. Assist in ensuring that the program is in compliance with all applicable contractual, licensing, staffing and safety mandates.
8. Report regularly to program coordinator on activities, outcomes and challenges.
9. Adhere to the tenets of Catholic Social Teaching and Catholic Doctrine.
10. Perform as a team member to assure that productivity outcome measures are achieved.
11. Perform related functions necessary to support the mission and core values of Catholic Charities.
