Spokane Trek Week | RSVP!!

If you’re planning on attending Spokane Trek Week next week (October 14-17) be sure to RSVP now at, especially for Speed Mock Interviews on Monday the 14th and the Trek Excursions on Thursday the 17th. There’s no reason to not RSVP – get involved and learn as much as you can!

Spokane Trek Week

Hey, Zags! We’re gearing up for Spokane Trek Week October 14-17 and we hope to see as many of you there as possible! For those of you who don’t know, Spokane Trek Week is a week full of activities including speed mock interviews, an Engineering Career Fair, an All Major Career Fair and Spokane Trek Excursions including networking events and trips to local businesses.

The Spokane Trek is the exact same experience you would have on our New York, San Francisco, Portland or Seattle treks – except you get all of those same experiences right here in your own backyard! It’s never too early in your college career to start researching new employers or industries or to experience career development.

First things first – let’s talk dresscode. While, yes, Spokane Trek Week is during a school week and we understand that students have classes throughout the day, we highly encourage students to dress in their business finest. Imagine you’re going to your dream company to interview for your dream job. At the Spokane Trek Week events, you’ll be meeting potential employers, so you’re going to want to look your best. Guys: While jackets aren’t required, they’re definitely recommended. But slacks, a button-down, tie and dress shoes will do just fine as well. Girls: No bare legs, please! No lowcut tops, either. We recommend a blouse and either a cardigan or blazer paired with either tights + a skirt or slacks. Believe us when we say: it may feel silly to dress up and wear business clothes in class, but when you get the internship or job of your dreams, you’ll thank us!

The first event for Spokane Trek Week is the Speed Mock Interviews on Monday, October 14 from 5:30-7 PM. Speed Mock Interviews provide an excellent opportunity to meet with employers one-on-one and gain first-hand interviewing skills while getting instant feedback. The only way to get better with interviewing is to practice, practice, practice! Afterwards, you’ll get a chance to network with the employers that held the Speed Mock Interviews.

Next up on Tuesday, October 15th is the Engineering Career Fair. For all of you Engineering Majors out there, this is a great opportunity for you! Come meet with engineering employers around the Northwest. Whether you’re looking for internships or jobs for out of college, employers bring all available positions to this career fair. Just a few of the companies that have either engineering internships or full-time positions are: Boeing, Garmin, US Navy and the WA State Department of Social and Health Services. The full list of companies attending can be found on ZagTrax.

ATTENTION STUDENTS OF ALL MAJORS: The All Major Career Fair is Wednesday, October 16! Similar to the Engineering Fair (just for all students), the All Major Fair brings employers from all over to one place to help students network and find internships and jobs for out of college. Companies attending include: Coldwater Creek, the Gonzaga MBA Program, the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Liberty Mutual, Red Lion Hotels, Sherwin-Williams and Wells Fargo. The full list of companies attending can be found on ZagTrax.

To round out Spokane Trek Week, we have the Excursions on Thursday, October 17. Students have the opportunity to meet with local employers at their places of business. Excursions are a great networking opportunity and are really a must for students of all grades and majors! Here is more information on the companies that will be attending:

etailz, formerly Green Cupboards, is a leader in e-commerce, providing environmentally friendly products for the family and home directly to the consumer. Etailz was founded in 2008 by two Gonzaga University students and their Adjunct Professor in Gonzaga’s Entrepreneurship Program as an effort to provide a one-stop shopping alternative for eco-friendly products to streamline the way customers “buy green.” This startup company has since acquired other companies, including Ecomom, a distributor of family-friendly “green” products. ALL MAJORS, ALL CLASS YEARS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE. Suggested Interests: Business, Entrepreneurship, Marketing, Sales, Operations, Sustainability/Environmental Studies.

Incyte Diagnostics is the premier pathology laboratory in the Northwest, recognized for diagnostic excellence, professionalism, and customer services. Incyte was founded in 1957 by pathologists and has grown to over 200 employees in departments ranging from customer services, marketing, HR, and operations, to anatomic diagnostics with specialties in dermatopathology, gynecologic pathology, and much more. Come learn about how the fast-growing medical industry is always seeking talent from a number of different professional and scientific backgrounds. ALL CLASS YEARS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE. Suggested Interests: Biochemistry, Biology, Chemistry, Public Relations, Marketing, HR, Management Information Systems, Operations.

North By Northwest (NXNW) is a video and film production company founded in Spokane in 1990. NXNW originally specialized in commercial and industrial video production, shooting its first feature-length film in 1995, but now serves a large number of markets. NXNW employees come from a wide array of backgrounds, including directing, producing, photography, editing, motion graphics design and audio engineering. ALL MAJORS, ALL CLASS YEARS INVITED TO PARTICIPATE. This is an excellent excursion for students with majors in the School of Arts & Science. Suggested interests: Writing, Editing, Production, Film, Photography, Art, Theater.

Womer & Associates is a Native American Design firm specializing in planning, with all disciplines of engineering (structural, civil, electrical, & mechanical), architecture, construction administration and interior design in-house. This excursion will be an excellent opportunity for students studying all disciplines of engineering, especially members of the Society of Women Engineers and any student interested in working in a small, minority-owned firm.

We hope to see all of you at the Spokane Trek Week events! Please email us at CareerCenter& with any questions or concerns you may have.
