Gonzaga University Chinese Program is small but strives to satisfy our students’ needs. We offer all three levels of Chinese: elementary, intermediate and advanced. We offer summer extensive reading courses too to bridge the gaps between different levels. Our classes are small and students get individual attention and help. Independent studies can be arranged on special topics.
We have a great study abroad program in Beijing. Students usually go in their junior year. Students feel very well prepared when they go to China to study and their Chinese usually flourish in that immersion situation.
Our students have the opportunity to work in our Summer Startalk Chinese Program at Gonzaga. Students can also work as tutors or teaching assistants to make use of the Chinese they have learned.
Our Chinese instructor Bin Cheng Crow is a native Chinese speaker and has a second language education background. She designs all kinds of fun language learning activities and projects for her students. Students sing, dance, rap, act, recite poems and learn a lot of Chinese. She is a member of Traditional Chinese Dance group and likes to bring her students to different Chinese culture activities that take place in Spokane.
