Connecting genetic variation to function

We use the model organism S. cerevisiae to measure how changes in the sequences of yeast and human genes alter their function, with a focus on metabolic enzymes and drug targets.

Who we are

Meet the members of the lab! We are faculty and undergraduate students at Gonzaga University.

Pharmacogenetics

Understanding how variation in genetic sequence may contribute to how people respond to pharmaceutical drugs

Experimental evolution

Studying the genetic changes in yeast after prolonged exposure to different conditions, to understand how genes contribute to phenotypes

Our research is possible thanks to support from the M.J. Murdock Charitable Trust and the Gonzaga Science Research Program.
