SPOKANE, Washington – Susan Norwood, nursing professor at Gonzaga University, has received a Fulbright Specialist appointment to travel to Benin, West Africa, to provide education and training in the area of injury control and prevention health services.
Specifically, Professor Norwood will help the Songhai Centre set up a new medical clinic and teach clinic staff about basic first aid. The Songhai Centre is a community sustainment program that promotes socioeconomic and agricultural improvements in several African nations. In addition, Norwood will work with the clinic’s nurse to manage projects and develop plans to set up additional medical clinics in satellite Songhai locations around Benin.
