Got Your Shots? Immunization Requirements for New Students

As we prepare for another great semester, we want to give all our students a “shot” at being successful Zags. In order to do this, we have certain immunization requirements in place for all new students.

Measles
All students born after 1956 are required to provide documentation of two measles (rubeola) vaccinations. This vaccine is often given as one of the components in the Mumps, Measles, Rubella (MMR) vaccine.

Please return the Mandatory Proof of Immunization Form (Live hyperlink: http://www.gonzaga.edu/Student-Development/Health-Center/Immunization-Form/ImmunizationRecord.pdf) to Health Center. If this documentation is not provided it may result in registration being held.

Meningitis
The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the American College Health Association (ACHA) recommend that parents and students are aware of the following information about meningitis:

  • Students living in residence halls are at a slightly increased risk for bacterial meningitis
  • Meningitis can have a devastating impact, including permanent disabilities and even death
  • A meningococcal vaccination can reduce the risk.

The Health Center highly recommends this vaccination. Please consult with your health care provider or come in to the Health Center for this vaccine.

Required Paperwork
You should have received a copy of the Mandatory Proof of Immunization Form from the Admissions Office. Please be sure to fill this out and return it to the Health Center as soon as possible.
