Our Blog

In February, the Career Center & GAMP offices hosted a wide range of interactive career development events that we have to share with our GU Parents! Even winter weather advisories can’t keep us from putting together top career development events for our students.

First, in preparation for our career fair, we hosted Prep Seminars that featured mini workshops on elevator pitch, what to wear, resume perfecting and more.  The workshops were just under 10 minutes apiece, perfect for busy Gonzaga students.  At the end of the event, students were treated to a free taco bar.  Students had the chance to ask additional questions to our Career Center team.

Another interactive annual event was our Speed Mock Interviews, where students were interviewed by ten employers and received immediate feedback.  This allowed students to practice their elevator pitch and polish answers to tough interview questions. The event also featured networking time between students and employers, allowing for valuable one-on-one time with recruiters.

The month wrapped up with the 17th Annual Partnership in Employment Fair.  This annual event, a partnership between Gonzaga, Eastern University, Washington State University and Whitworth University, is a prime opportunity for students to meet with top employers.  The fair featured over 80 employers, 21 of which were first time participants.  We were thrilled to welcome Amazon, Nordstrom, Apple, Target, Washington Trust Bank, Walmart, US Citizenship and Immigration Services,  DCAA Auditors, F5 Networks and Tacoma Power.

If your student didn’t attend one of these events, no worry!  The Career Center/GAMP office can work with your student to coach them to career success.   We are located on the second floor Crosby, or just direct them to our website: www.gonzaga.edu/careercenter
