Our Blog

The energy that surrounds campus in early September excites all who are part of the Gonzaga Community. From faculty, staff, students and parents, there is a sense of anticipation to see what this newness and excitement will bring. Where will the journey take us?

Amongst the newness of this school year comes an opportunity for people from all parts of the Gonzaga Community to participate in one of the oldest, and longest running traditions of this university. Pilgrimage will be celebrating its 42nd annual trek through the Idaho wilderness on Saturday, September 17th. For the last 42 years over two-hundred students, alumni, faculty, staff,  Coeur d’Alene  tribal members and the Spokane community have been invited embark on this 11-mile hike that unites the past and present of our university with the rich history and heritage of our own personal stories. Our journey ends with liturgy at the historic Cataldo Mission in Cataldo, ID where we celebrate  the different cultures, experiences, and  backgrounds that makeup this community we have come to know as Gonzaga.

If you or your student is interested in joining us on Pilgrimage this year, visit the University Ministry Pilgrimage website at www.gonzaga.edu/pilgrimage to sign up! A hearty breakfast and lunch will be provided. The event begins on September 17th here on campus at 6:00am and will return by 5:30pm the same day. Whether you are joining us physically or through your thoughts and prayers, we are grateful for your role in supporting and enriching the Gonzaga experience.

From all of us here at University Ministry, we hope that this new school year meets you and your student with grace and life giving experiences. Peace to you and we’ll see you on the trail!

Always,

University Ministry Staff
