Financial Aid For New Students
Graduation has passed, summer fun has begun, and college planning is in full swing. Although your student’s financial aid package has been solidified and payment arrangements have been made, there is still some follow up that can keep your student on track for financial aid in the fall and some key things to remember throughout the Gonzaga educational journey:

Correspondence from Financial Aid:
The financial aid office sends 99% of its correspondence via email and ZagWeb. This means anytime there is a change to an award, payment due or general information given, it will be sent through email. It is important that your student check their email often and share this information with you. Also, students can choose to set up their parents as “authorized payees” through CashNet in order to keep them in the financial loop.

Loan Entrance Counseling and Master Promissory Note for New Borrowers:
If your student has opted to borrow Federal Direct Loans, they will need to complete a Master Promissory Note and Loan Entrance Counseling through www.studentloans.gov. Students sign in with their SSN and PIN from FAFSA and can find instructions on completing these on the navigation menu on the left.

For those students borrowing additional loans (i.e., Perkins), correspondence will be sent via email on any additional information required for these loans.

Why Hasn’t My Aid Paid To My Account?:
All of the required documentation has been completed, but your financial aid still has not posted to your account. One of the main reasons we see this happen is because students have not accepted their charges with accounting. The accounting office sends electronic billing statements each month beginning in July. There are very specific instructions on the statements listing how students can accept their charges. Your financial aid will not pay until charges are accepted. If you need further information regarding charges, please contact Student Accounts.

The financial aid office is available to answer any questions and concerns you may have regarding financial aid. Please feel free to contact us at any time and we will be happy to assist you as best we can!
