Our Blog

The Career Center & Gonzaga Alumni Mentor Program (GAMP) are pleased to inform you of our success over the past year with our Hire A Zag campaign.  Our goal is to increase internships and job opportunities for our GU students and alumni.  Please keep us in mind as you hear about good opportunities for Gonzaga students and graduates.  To refer opportunities to us please go to http://www.zagsonline.org and click on the “Hire a Zag: Job Posting Form” on the left hand side.

The Gonzaga University Career Center and GAMP invite you to partner with us as we guide your GU student through their career exploration and development.

At the Career Center and GAMP office, your student can access services like career fairs, trek excursions, career mentors, resume and cover letter writing workshops, job postings, and an etiquette dinner. There are lots of opportunities to make connections with other parents, alumni and employers. Let the networking begin!

You will be hearing from the Career Center & GAMP throughout the year. Meanwhile, here are 5 quick tips on ways that you can begin helping your student achieve career success:

  1. Remind your student to take an active role in the process of making career decisions. It’s OK to support and challenge but don’t over-manage. It’s their process!
  2. Emphasize the importance and value of internship experience
  3. Encourage extracurricular involvement
  4. Advise your student to develop and update their resume as they go through college
  5. Teach the value of networking

Your son or daughter should understand that there are many experiences, ideas, tools, resources, programs, activities and services that make up their college experience. Don’t worry… and don’t wait to encourage your student to get involved with the Career Center & GAMP. It’s never too early to start!

To introduce ourselves to freshmen, we host an Italian Soda Social on September 5th. For many Gonzaga students, their connection to the Career Center & GAMP starts here! This is a chance for new students to see where our office is located (Crosby 211) and  meet some of our team members who are here to help make the transition from college to career a smooth one.

In addition to the Freshmen Italian Soda Social, there are a few other important dates that you and your student may want to mark in your calendars:
