Our Blog

As we move toward the end of summer and begin the Fall semester of studies at Gonzaga we offer a huge welcome to our incoming freshmen class as well as all of our returning students!

Parents, let us tell you a little bit about the Health Center on campus.  We are an on-campus physician’s office staffed with a M.D., a nurse practitioner and registered nurses.  Our focus is to provide health education and medical care to return the students to their academic lives.  To access care quickly and easily, students may phone us for an appointment.  At the Health Center they can discuss any and all of their health care concerns in a confidential environment.

Some fees may be incurred and they are the responsibility of the student.  There is a minimal fee to see a health care provider.  Anytime a fee is incurred a fee bill is produced that is designed to be submitted to their insurance carrier for reimbursement.

Immunizations:

Measles:  All students born after 1956 are required to provide documentation of two measles (rubeola) inoculations. The measles or rubeola vaccine is also one of the components in the Mumps, Measles, Rubella vaccine.  If this documentation is not provided it may result in registration being held.

Meningococcal vaccine:  The Center for Disease Control (CDC) and the American College Health Association (ACHA) recommends that parents and students are aware of the following information about meningitis: (A) students living in residence halls are at a slightly increased risk for bacterial meningitis; (B) meningitis can be devastating; (C) a vaccination can reduce the risk.  Please consult with your health care provider or come in for the vaccine at our Health Center.  The Health Center highly recommends this vaccination.

Influenza (Flu) vaccine:  With the start of the school year we strongly encourage all students to get a Flu shot.  In an effort to make this both affordable and convenient, we start offering the Flu shot beginning with Orientation Weekend (we will be at Crosby Student Center Green Room (UPSTAIRS!) on Friday, August 30, and Saturday, August 31, from 9 a.m. until noon) and the cost for our students–only $5!! And we will continue to offer flu shots to students at $5 until supplies run out (usually sometime in November).

Our hours during the academic year are:

Monday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday – 8:00a.m. to 11:45a.m. and 1:00p.m. to 5:00p.m.

Tuesday we open at 10:00a.m.

Closed Saturdays, Sundays, University holidays and during the semester breaks.

We are located at 704 E. Sharp Ave (corner of Sharp and Dakota)
