Wow! Orientation Weekend was full of excitement, as we welcomed your students into our Zag family. As new students walked through the front doors of the Hemmingson Center, they entered an energetic environment that fosters an inclusive community made of students, staff, faculty and friends of GU.

The Hemmingson Center was bustling all weekend, offering many services to students such as tech support in the Next Gen Tech Bar, full-service banking at US Bank, nourishing meals and, of course, much needed coffee from Starbucks and Einstein’s.

Many Orientation activities also took place in the building, including the Student and Community Fairs, to help students get more involved in the thriving ZAG community. From sports clubs and music clubs to our very own Kennel Club, new students saw options of how to become involved in the Zag community.

After meeting in small groups, the class of 2021 gathered together on Mulligan Field to take their class picture and then had an amazing dinner together in the Hemmingson Center. It can be scary to go off to college and start a new journey, but through these activities, students can unite and lean on each other as new friendships start to form and grow.

On the Monday of Orientation, faculty, staff and other Zags continued a GU tradition by lining the sidewalk to St. Aloysius Church and cheering on the class of 2021, as they made their way to Academic Convocation. It’s our way of officially welcoming the new Zags into our growing and thriving community!

The Hemmingson Center is your students’ “home away from home,” offering places to get food, coffee, entertainment, study, build community and so much more.
