As winter vacation comes to an end, the Center for Global Engagement has been busy getting ready for our global Zags to embark on their next adventures. We have students who will be returning to campus after their study abroad as well as new international students coming to campus for the first time. For international students who were here over the break, the CGE provided lots of outings to enjoy the break with us, from a trip to Coeur d’Alene to skiing at Mt. Spokane. Our hope is that students who don’t go home over the break still have lots of opportunities to enjoy their winter vacation in the Spokane area. All GU students are always welcome and invited to join our events and activities, which can be found here on Facebook.

The CGE is also preparing students to go out into the world on their study abroad experiences! If your Zag is planning to study abroad in the coming year, please encourage your student to thoroughly read through the application and required supplemental materials as they prepare their application. Below are the upcoming application deadlines for study abroad programs in 2018:

January 19: Gonzaga in Florence, Fall 2018

February 1:  Faculty-Led Summer 2018 Study Abroad Programs

March 1: All Other Study Abroad Programs for 2018

We always advise that students start preparing as far in advance as possible for their study abroad experience. Even if your student is planning on studying abroad in a year or two, we would strongly encourage them to come in and make an appointment with a study abroad advisor when they get back to campus.

And, finally, the CGE wishes you and yours a very happy, healthy, and peaceful 2018!
