A student reported\u00a0today that on September 6, between 3 \u2013 5:30 a.m.,\u00a0person(s) unknown entered an off-campus, non-University owned\u00a0residence\u00a0several blocks north of the University. \u00a0The intruder(s) apparently entered\u00a0through an open window and\u00a0removed\u00a0personal belongings of the\u00a0occupants. \u00a0 According to the student, all of the residents were home asleep at the time of the burglary.\u00a0 The student stated it appeared that the intruder(s) did not enter any of the bedrooms, but remained in the living room before leaving through the front door of the house.\u00a0 Among items reported taken was a set of vehicle keys, and a resident\u2019s vehicle was stolen.\u00a0 The vehicle has since been recovered by police. Students reported the crime to Spokane Police who responded and completed an incident report. GU Security was not notified at the time of the incident.\u00a0<\/p>\n
Here are some important steps you can take to help protect your property:<\/p>\n
* Lock your doors and windows. Keep curtains and blinds closed, especially at night.<\/p>\n
* Make sure all of your exterior lights are working.<\/p>\n
* Report all crimes immediately to 911.<\/p>\n
* Report suspicious persons and activities immediately to 911.<\/p>\n
If you encounter a subject in your residence, do not attempt to confront them.
