Spokane United Way has an AmeriCorps VISTA opportunity!

Join Us. Spokane County United Way has a unique one year AmeriCorps VISTA opportunity starting in July 2013!

We are seeking someone to coordinate the development and implementation of a volunteer engagement strategy.  

Applications are due by April 30, 2013.

Volunteering is key to achieving our mission which is to mobilize our community to create measurable results that improve lives. We do that by focusing on Education, Income and Health, the building blocks for a good of life.  Volunteering is vital to helping us get things done for our community and is an important part of how we create relationships both at the institutional and personal level.

The person who accepts this position will work under the guidance of our leadership team and will be responsible for developing and implementing a strategic plan for volunteer engagement that will:

  • Mobilize volunteers to impact identified community issues – such as recruiting volunteers to serve as mentors and tutors for children at risk of dropping out of school or to provide free tax preparation services to low and moderate income households.
  • Encourage volunteering – Working with local non- profit organizations and community organizations to identify volunteer projects.
  • Connect people to volunteer opportunities – including arranging team projects for local businesses to recruiting individuals using social networking and traditional media.
  • Provide training and support to make sure volunteers are effective and appreciated.

If you have good planning and organizational skills, are a good oral and written communicator, and have the passion and basic organizational and planning skills to help get things done – then we encourage you to apply.
