Spokane Trek Week

Hey, Zags! We’re gearing up for Spokane Trek Week October 14-17 and we hope to see as many of you there as possible! For those of you who don’t know, Spokane Trek Week is a week full of activities including speed mock interviews, an Engineering Career Fair, an All Major Career Fair and Spokane Trek Excursions including networking events and trips to local businesses.

The Spokane Trek is the exact same experience you would have on our New York, San Francisco, Portland or Seattle treks – except you get all of those same experiences right here in your own backyard! It’s never too early in your college career to start researching new employers or industries or to experience career development.

First things first – let’s talk dresscode. While, yes, Spokane Trek Week is during a school week and we understand that students have classes throughout the day, we highly encourage students to dress in their business finest. Imagine you’re going to your dream company to interview for your dream job. At the Spokane Trek Week events, you’ll be meeting potential employers, so you’re going to want to look your best. Guys: While jackets aren’t required, they’re definitely recommended. But slacks, a button-down, tie and dress shoes will do just fine as well. Girls: No bare legs, please! No lowcut tops, either. We recommend a blouse and either a cardigan or blazer paired with either tights + a skirt or slacks. Believe us when we say: it may feel silly to dress up and wear business clothes in class, but when you get the internship or job of your dreams, you’ll thank us!

The first event for Spokane Trek Week is the Speed Mock Interviews on Monday, October 14 from 5:30-7 PM. Speed Mock Interviews provide an excellent opportunity to meet with employers one-on-one and gain first-hand interviewing skills while getting instant feedback. The only way to get better with interviewing is to practice, practice, practice! Afterwards, you’ll get a chance to network with the employers that held the Speed Mock Interviews.

Next up on Tuesday, October 15th is the Engineering Career Fair. For all of you Engineering Majors out there, this is a great opportunity for you! Come meet with engineering employers around the Northwest. Whether you’re looking for internships or jobs for out of college, employers bring all available positions to this career fair. Just a few of the companies that have either engineering internships or full-time positions are: Boeing, Garmin, US Navy and the WA State Department of Social and Health Services. The full list of companies attending can be found on ZagTrax.

ATTENTION STUDENTS OF ALL MAJORS: The All Major Career Fair is Wednesday, October 16! Similar to the Engineering Fair (just for all students), the All Major Fair brings employers from all over to one place to help students network and find internships and jobs for out of college. Companies attending include: Coldwater Creek, the Gonzaga MBA Program, the Jesuit Volunteer Corps, Liberty Mutual, Red Lion Hotels, Sherwin-Williams and Wells Fargo. The full list of companies attending can be found on ZagTrax.

To round out Spokane Trek Week, we have the Excursions on Thursday, October 17. Students have the opportunity to meet with local employers at their places of business.
