Construction on Gonzaga University’s new Woldson Performing Arts Center is underway, and the new Center will provide our undergraduates with a new and exciting internship opportunity beginning in Fall 2017.
The Woldson Center will feature rotating exhibits on the life and philanthropy of Myrtle Woldson, whose generosity has greatly aided the University. The new Digital Humanities Initiative will be spearheading these exhibits, and Dr. Veta Schlimgen of the History Department will serve as the faculty supervisor for a new internship in which students will have the responsibility to investigate, question, and share the past with others. Dr. Schlimgen, says, “I think History majors and minors are particularly well-suited for the internship because they know the historic context, they know how to analyze sources, and they are great at communicating the continuing significance of the past.”
Dr. Schlimgen also notes that she is seeking student applicants from across the disciplines, including English, Philosophy, Sociology, Religious Studies, Classical Civilizations, Native American Studies, Women’s and Gender Studies, and Fine Arts.
