When he was choosing a college, Tyler Hamke (’17) was looking for a deep sense of community and individualized attention from his professors. He found exactly that at Gonzaga University. His experience proved that every professor truly cared about his success as a student and as a person.
The personal attention Hamke received allowed him to build relationships with professors and succeed in his chosen field of mechanical engineering. He has always been interested in technology and science, which made engineering a perfect fit. He thrived on building things and understanding how things work. Hamke enjoyed the challenge engineering offered and hasn’t been afraid to ask for help from his professors thanks to the relationships he’d built. After graduation, he wants to work in the field of aerospace, particularly in something revolving around space exploration or commercial space flight.
The scholarship Tyler received allowed him to focus on his education rather than financial stresses.
“I would like to say thank you from the bottom of my heart,” he expressed. “The money that donors contribute makes a difference in the lives of many students. They are effectively changing the world through their contributions. The students who receive these funds are privileged with the opportunity to study at Gonzaga with other students who will one day change the world.”
