50 Days – $50,000 – 50th Anniversary
Join Gonzaga in celebrating a milestone for one of our most loyal GU Florentines – Phil McCarthey, G-I-F ’72-73, who will be turning 60 and also celebrating his 40th Florence reunion!
Phil’s daughters – Molly, G-I-F Class ’05-06, and Mairin, GU Class of 2010 – have challenged the alumni and friends of the Gonzaga-in-Florence program to raise $50,000 in the next 50 days to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of the Florence program and honor their dad’s birthday.
If we are successful in raising $50,000 for Gonzaga-in-Florence by September 17, 2012, Molly and Mairin McCarthey will match this amount to help double the impact we have on our beloved Florence program.
Gifts can be designated to Florence Scholarships, which support students studying in the G-I-F program; or the Dean’s Fund, which assists with current students’ needs such as travel, program enrichment and faculty resources. These two funds provide the greatest opportunity to have an impact on the students who will be studying during the 2012-13 academic year in Florence.
We are grateful to the entire McCarthey family for their generosity toward the G-I-F program over the years. We hope you, the alumni of Gonzaga-in-Florence, join together in making the 50 for 50 challenge a reality with your gifts for our students and the program.
