As a management professor, there are certain mantras that I repeat to students every semester. One of them is this: “If an organization’s actions do not match its mission statement, either the actions or the mission statement need to change.”<\/p>\n
Therefore, it is appropriate to begin blogging with the mission statement of Gonzaga’s School of Business. This is the statement that guides all our actions. It is our promise to students, parents, and the community about what our work means.<\/p>\n
The mission statement of the Gonzaga School of Business:<\/p>\n
We develop professionally competent and intellectually curious graduates who exemplify the humanistic, ethical, and moral values of a Jesuit institution. We provide a challenging and supportive learning environment, with quality students and faculty marking our excellence. As part of a global environment, we promote relationships with regional, national, and international business and scholarly communities.<\/p>\n
As always, the faculty and staff of the School of Business will measure their actions against this mission and ask the question: Is this mission central?<\/p>\n
