SPD News Release: Car thieves tools of choice
On November 4, 2009, just before 4pm, Spokane Police Ofc. Jeff McCollough located a stolen vehicle near Olympic and Helena. He contacted the male driver, Brendon T. Kaluza-Graham (10/16/87), whose license was suspended.
Ofc. McCollough discovered the 1997 Honda Accord that Kaluza-Graham had been driving had stolen Idaho license plates, and the vehicle itself was reported stolen. The ignition of the vehicle had been punched and damaged.
Inside the vehicle, patrol officers located screw drivers, work gloves, a pair of used rubber gloves, and an allen wrench that had been ground down to resemble a vehicle key. Another set of vehicle plates and other screwdrivers and shaved keys were also located.
Kaluza-Graham was booked into Spokane County Jail for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle. See attached photos of property taken from the vehicle.
Citizens are reminded that if they see anything unusual in their neighborhood, whether its a vehicle parked in the same location for more than a few days to unusual pedestrian traffic, they are urged to call police. Many of the vehicle thefts take place in a matter of minutes.
