Student reports assault near Crimont last Friday
A student reported to Campus Security late last night that he was the victim of an assault four days earlier on April 20 at about 11:00 PM in the 1300 block of North Standard near Crimont Hall. The student reported that he was in a group of seven students who were approached by two white males 18-20 years of age. Following a confrontation, one of the males punched him, breaking his nose. The two subjects, believed to be non-students, then walked away. None of the other students was injured. Spokane Police and Campus Security were not notified at the time of the incident. The student was encouraged to file a police report. Gonzaga Security is following up with Spokane Police regarding a potential person of interest in the assault.
Gonzaga community members are reminded of the following safety tips:
• If you have to walk, do so in groups especially after dark. Try to use well-lit, busy routes.
• Utilize Security escorts to travel across campus: 313-2222.
• Be aware of your surroundings.
• Report suspicious persons or circumstances immediately to GU Security (313-2222) or SPD (911).
• DO NOT confront persons who act or appear they may become threatening.
