Residential burglary (occupied) reported in 1700 block of N. Addison
A student reported today that on September 21, between midnight – 2:00 a.m., person(s) unknown entered an off-campus, non-University owned residence several blocks north of the University. The intruder(s) entered after breaking a basement window. Personal belongings of the occupants were removed from an unoccupied bedroom in the basement, and from the living room. Among items reported taken was a set of vehicle keys, and a resident’s vehicle was stolen. According to the student, the residents were home asleep at the time of the burglary. It appeared that the intruder(s) did not enter any of the occupied bedrooms. Students reported the crime to Spokane Police who responded and completed an incident report. GU Security was not notified at the time of the incident.
Here are some important steps you can take to help protect your property:
* Secure doors and windows. Keep curtains and blinds closed, especially at night.
* Make sure all of your exterior lights are working.
* Installation of motion activated exterior lights is recommended.
* Report suspicious persons and activities immediately to 911.
If you encounter a subject in your residence, do not attempt to confront them. Go to a safe place and call 911.
Please notify Campus Security of such incidents as soon as possible at 313-2222 so that others in the neighborhood can be alerted.
