Hamilton and Sharp closed briefly while Emergency Responders cleaned up gas spill
SPOKANE, Wash. – The Spokane Fire Department is investigating a gasoline spill that happened near North Hamilton Street and East Sharp Avenue early Wednesday morning.
Authorities responded shortly after 7:00 a.m. to reports of a gas leak. Upon arrival they were able to confirm the leak was from a vehicle, and not the pump.
According to authorities, a man attempted to steal gas from an Spokane Transit Authority vehicle, unknowingly clipped a fill line, and that led to approximately 10 gallons of fuel spilling onto the street.
Hamilton St. was closed briefly, but authorities re-opened the street shortly after 8:00 a.m.
