| Update on fatal shooting |
| Early Sunday morning, December 12, 2010, around 1:30am, a woman called police from a residence in the 800 block of East Augusta, to report that her daughter was bleeding profusely. The woman reported that her daughter’s boyfriend may have “done this to her”. When officers arrived, they found the female victim inside a bedroom with at least one gunshot wound to the face. Medical personnel responded and transported Samantha Franco to a local hospital where she was pronounced dead.
Franco’s mother gave officers a description of the 24 year old suspect, Tristen Jordan. Patrol officers immediately began searching for Jordan. Meanwhile, there were reports of vehicles being shot at in the parking garage underneath Couglin Hall on the Gonzaga Campus, 800 N. Cincinnati. Officers responded to the garage and found two vehicles that had been shot with a handgun.
Officers located Jordan near the McCarthy Center, 800 N. Cincinnati, bleeding from a gunshot wound to the head. Jordan fled when approached by police but was captured after a short foot pursuit. A handgun, which investigators believe is the murder weapon, was located in a parking lot near 700 N. Hamilton.
Jordan was transported to a local hospital for treatment and has since been flown to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle. Jordan remains in police custody and is facing 1st degree Murder charges. |
