Attempted Bike Theft at Coughlin

At about 2:30 AM this morning, a Gonzaga Security Dispatcher noticed a suspicious person while monitoring the surveillance camera on the Coughlin Hall bike racks. Officers were dispatched and contacted, identified, and eventually trespassed the subject.

Subsequent review of video indicates the subject was likely preparing to take a bike. He first took a bike from the rack that only had the front wheel locked by removing the front wheel, then he removed the front wheel from another bike. Officers contacted him while he was putting the front wheel on. It is believed that the subject may also be the person of interest in the backpack reported taken from the Bookstore the previous day.

If you see the subject on or near campus, please contact Campus Security immediately at 313-2222.
