Campus Security & Public Safety

A GU Student reported that she and two acquaintances were verbally harassed by three individuals upon leaving the Bulldog Tavern last night around 11:30 PM. According to the student, the individuals followed the student and her acquaintances from the Bulldog Tavern to the Tesoro station across the street where the female yelled threats at them. They then ran to their residence and contacted GU Security. GU Security was unable to locate the subjects. The subjects were described as two males and one female,  in their mid-20’s to early 30s, and very intoxicated.

A GU Student reported that her bike was taken from the from porch of her off-campus residence in the 300 block of East Augusta sometime between 10:00 PM on August 16 and 9:00 AM on August 17.  The cable lock securing the bike to the porch was cut.

GU Security responded to a burglar alarm at the Music Annex #2. A staff member had accidentally activated the alarm.

GU Security and the Spokane Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at a GU-owned residence in the 700 block of East Desmet. Bacon in a microwave ignited and activated a smoke detector.

GU Security and the Spokane Fire Department responded to a fire alarm at the Law School. Nothing was found.

July 20

GU Security received a report that a window was found open and the screen pushed out at a residence in the 400 block of East Augusta at about 3:30 AM on July 17. The residents, who are GU Students, believed that somebody had entered the residence and then departed via the window. Nothing was found missing.

A GU Student reported that her laptop and IHome Stereo System were taken from her residence in the 1000 block of East Sinto sometime between 11:30 Pm on July 18 and 1:30 PM on July 19. Entry is believed to have been made through an unlocked door.

A GU Student reported that her bike was missing from the front of Twohy Hall between May 15th and May 16th. She had placed a U-Lock on the vehicle but believes it may not have been properly locked.

A GU Student reported from a blue light phone on the south side of Martin Centre that she was being harassed by a group of non-students while walking on the Centennial Trail. GU Security and the Spokane Police Department responded and the subjects were trespassed from the Gonzaga campus.

A visitor to Foley Library reported that at about 6:30 PM on July 14, she observed a white male, about 25-30 years old, wearing a baseball cap, t-shirt, and shorts sitting in an aisle between two rows of books. According to the visitor, the man appeared to be attempting to manually stimulate himself under his t-shirt. The visitor left the library, and later contacted GU Security. The visitor was encouraged to file a report with the Spokane Police Department.

A GU Student reported that a stereo was taken from his vehicle while parked in the alley in the 400 block between Sinto and Mission sometime between July 1 at 9:00 PM and July 7 at 8:00 AM.

A GU Student reported that her bike was taken from the bike rack near Herak Center sometime between 12:40 PM and 2:30 PM on July 9. The bike was secured with a cable lock.

A GU Student reported the theft of her vehicle from the 700 block of East Nora between 9:00 PM on June 19 and 6:30 AM on June 20. The same vehicle had been recovered on June 18 in the 200 block of East Sinto after being taken from the 100 block of East Sharp in late May. In the earlier theft, a “shaved key” was used to open and start the vehicle. It is suspected that the same method was used in this incident as well.

A basement window at Welch was broken by a non-campus juvenile subject when he used it to climb up the wall while talking with another (female) non-campus individual staying at Welch. Unfortunately for him, it was a window in the Security Dispatch Center.

GU Security contacted two non-campus subjects, one of whom was very intoxicated and had fallen, on the south side of Lincoln Hall.  After the Spokane Fire Department  checked the subject who had fallen, both were transported to the nearby Red Lion hotel.

A GU Student reported the theft of her bike from a residence in the 900 block of East Sharp between 7:30 PM and 11:00 PM on May 12. The bike was secured to a porch with a “cheap lock”.

A GU Residence Director reported that a vehicle parked on Lidgerwood east of Burch appeared to have been broken into. GU Security responded and found the vehicle full of household items. It was later determined that the vehicle belonged to a GU Student who reported that nothing had been taken.

A GU Student reported the theft of parts from his bike from the bike rack southeast of College Hall. Only the frame was still secured to the rack. The theft occurred sometime between the 16th and the 18th.

GU Security responded to a burglary alarm at the Music Annex. An instructor had entered and was unable to disarm the alarm system.

A GU Student reported the theft of her vehicle from the parking lot at Kennedy Apartments. A review of digital surveillance showed the vehicle being driven away at 9:20 AM on the 24th by an unidentified white male. It appears that the subject used a “shaved key” to access and start the 1998 Suburu station wagon. A report was filed with the Spokane Police Department.

A GU Student reported that someone had broken a window on her vehicle while it was parked in the Corkery parking lot at about 2:00 AM on the 25th. An empty laptop bag was the only item missing.

A GU Student reported receiving harassing text messages and phone calls from a former roommate. She was provided with instructions regarding how to obtain a restraining order through the Spokane Police Department, and a no contact order through GU.

Residents of a GU-owned property in the 900 block of East Sharp reported the theft of two laptops from inside the residence. Access was most likely made through an unsecured door at the rear of the residence between 3:20 PM and 4:30 PM.

A GU Student reported that a guitar and amplifiers were taken from his vehicle parked in the 900 block of Sinto Avenue between 12:45 AM and 6:45 AM on May 5.

A GU Student reported the theft of his bike from the south bike rack at Kennedy apartments between 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM on May 5. Only his quick-release front wheel, still secured by a U-Lock to the rack, was left.

A GU Student reported the theft of pedals from his bike at the bike rack at Dussault Apartments between 9:00 PM on May 4 and 11:00 AM on May 5.

GU Security received a report that a residence in the 900 block of East Augusta was burglarized. While residents were upstairs with friends, an unknown person or persons entered through an unlocked door and took several items from the first floor and basement, including laptops, a camera, a cell phone, and a wallet containing cash and credit cards. The Spokane Police Department responded and collected evidence from the residence.

While residents were upstairs with friends, an unknown person or persons entered through an unlocked door and took several items from the first floor and basement, including laptops, a camera, a cell phone, and a wallet containing cash and credit cards. The Spokane Police Department responded and collected evidence from the residence.

GU Security contacted an intoxicated non-student urinating on the lawn of the Music Annex. After he offered a lengthy and convuluted explanation for his abherrent behavior, the Spokane Police Department secured a taxi ride home.

A Spokane Police Department Extra-Duty Officer cited a GU Student for Minor in Possession and Obstructing an Officer when he ran from the officer who tried to make contact with him at the 300 block of East Sharp Avenue. The student discarded the beverage cup he had been carrying and ran to Dooley Hall where he attempted to conceal himself in a basement window well. The Spokane Fire Department was summoned to insure the student had not hurt himself jumping into the window well.

GU Security was notified of a suspicious person (see the “Person of Interest” below) in the southeast elevator lobby at Kennedy Apartments. Security and the Kennedy Residence Director searched the building. A later review of video surveillance showed that the person had left the lobby not long after he was initially observed entering it via the west entry. A work order was place to check the west entry door return mechanism.

GU Security responded to a vehicle prowl report. A GU Student reported that he had parked his car the night of the 27th in the Burch Apartments parking lot, and that a GPS system and camera were taken from the vehicle after someone broke a window to gain access.

A GU Student reported that while his car was parked between 11:00 PM on the 27^th and 3:00 PM on the 28^th in the 1100 block of North Pearl Street, someone broke his passenger side window and accessed his glove box. The student reported that he could find nothing missing from the vehicle.

The vehicle was found by the Spokane Police Department a few blocks away in good condition, but minus the CD player. There was no sign of forced entry.
