A Dooley resident reported a white male, 40-50 years old, with gray & black hair driving a black Dodge Durango making repeated attempts to talk with her while she was walking on Sharp near the Kennedy Apartments. When she would ignore his attempt to talk with her, he would drive ahead, pull to the curb along the sidewalk and try again. GU Security advised her to immediately contact 911 and GU Security should a similar event occur again.

A GU student called GU dispatch to advise that her friend, a Madonna resident, had walked away from the area of Montgomery & Standard alone. The student was concerned for her friend’s safety, and requested GU Security attempt to locate the Madonna resident. A GU-contracted Spokane police officer saw an individual matching her description entering Madonna a few minutes later and the RA was asked to confirm she was in her room. The RA confirmed she was safe in her room.

A GU Student reported that she believed her residence in the 900 block of East Boone had been entered while she was gone; no evidence of forced entry was found and nothing is known to be missing at this time.

     

Spokane Police Arrest Logan Neighborhood Robbery Suspects

The Spokane Police Department has made three arrests in connection with the recent robberies in the Logan Neighborhood, and are looking for at least 3 other suspects. We’ll provide more information as we collect all the details. A Marian resident found a purse in the alley of the 900 block of Desmet and reported it to GU Security. Upon inspection, the purse was found to contain drug paraphernalia and what appeared to be an illegal drug. The purse and its contents were turned over to the Spokane Police Department.

A Corkery resident reported an unknown subject driving in an aggressive manner and shouting obscenities at her in the Hamilton Safeway parking lot. The subject continued his verbal tirade when she left the store. She made sure that he did not follow her to her residence and then contacted GU Security. She was advised to also report the incident to the Spokane Police Department.

4 GU students were robbed of cash and a pocketknife by one white or Hispanic male and two black males wearing hoodies and carrying small bats. The students were not injured. SPD extra-duty and GU Security officers responded, but the subjects were not found.

2 GU Students and a non-student were approached by 2 white males who asked them to empty their pockets. One of the subjects displayed a short bat. The 2 non-students ran to their nearby residence and called 911. Cash was taken from the non-student. Nobody was injured.

GU students robbed north of campus

October 18, 2008

This morning at about 2:00 am four Gonzaga students were walking in the area of Nora and Cincinnati when they were approached by three males carrying nightstick-type clubs.  The suspects took wallets and other valuables and then fled the area.  GU Security and two GU-contracted Spokane Police patrol units arrived within one minute of receiving the call, but were unable to locate the suspects.  The students were not injured.  The wallets, minus the cash, were found nearby. One suspect was described as male, white or Hispanic. The other two suspects were described as male, African-American, all were wearing hoodies.

Not in our house 2: GU community works together to fight crime

October 15, 2008

On Saturday, 2 GU students were contacted by 3 juvenile males near Cushing Hall who confronted them and “asked to see their wallets”. The students were able to remove themselves from the situation without physical harm or loss of property, and contacted GU Security who located the 3 subjects on campus. The students declined to press charges, but the juveniles were identified by the Spokane Police Department and trespassed from our property.

There they were; “our” students minding their own business when they observed three individuals behaving in non-typical manners around bikes at Martin Centre.
