Meagan Fischer, a current Gonzaga student, is working as a teaching assistant in Gonzaga Startalk Summer Chinese program. She helps the teacher Gloria to teach 10 high school students from 9:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. This summer job gives her the opportunity to use the Chinese she has learned. She enjoys it very much. She says she is happy to be part of the program that makes Chinese available to local students whose schools don’t offer Chinese yet.
Meagan learned Chinese 101 and 102 at Gonzaga. After that, she studied abroad in the Beijing Center in China and finished Chinese equivalent to college Chinese 201 and 202. She came back and worked as a TA for Gonzaga Chinese program for a semester. This summer she stays in Spokane instead of going back to her hometown in Oregon. Even though Meagan’s major is Business Administration, she understands how important Chinese is for her future career. Her father, who is an international lawyer doing a lot of business with Asian countries, gives her a lot of influence too.
Meagan is thinking of continuing with her Chinese at Gonzaga. She plans to enroll in Chinese 301 this fall.
