Sexual Assault Reported
A GU Student reported she was inappropriately touched during last Friday’s Highlighter Dance at Cataldo Hall. The student reported that an unknown person groped her from behind while she was on the dance floor. Because she could not identify the person responsible, she did not contact Campus Security or Spokane Police at the time. She later reported the assault to a member of the Sexual Assault Resource Team (SART).
The Sexual Assault Response Team (SART) is a group of Gonzaga staff and faculty who volunteer their time serving as a support and resource person for students who report sexual misconduct including sexual assault. SART First Responders provide a personal response for students reporting sexual misconduct as well as resources and guidance. A SART member is on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year. They can be reached by calling the University Switchboard at 328-4220 (ext. 0 from on campus). SART First Responders can help you talk through all of the resources available. You do not have to give your name if you do not want to.
If any community member has information regarding this assault, we encourage you to contact Campus Security or a member of the SART team at 313-2222. You can also file an anonymous report through GU Silent Witness. Gonzaga University encourages all persons who experience crimes and suspicious incidents to make a report with the University or Spokane Police at the time the incident occurs.
