Residential burglary (occupied) reported in 900 block of E. Baldwin

A student reported today that on September 6, between 3 – 5:30 a.m., person(s) unknown entered an off-campus, non-University owned residence several blocks north of the University.  The intruder(s) apparently entered through an open window and removed personal belongings of the occupants.   According to the student, all of the residents were home asleep at the time of the burglary.  The student stated it appeared that the intruder(s) did not enter any of the bedrooms, but remained in the living room before leaving through the front door of the house.  Among items reported taken was a set of vehicle keys, and a resident’s vehicle was stolen.  The vehicle has since been recovered by police. Students reported the crime to Spokane Police who responded and completed an incident report. GU Security was not notified at the time of the incident. 

Here are some important steps you can take to help protect your property:

* Lock your doors and windows. Keep curtains and blinds closed, especially at night.

* Make sure all of your exterior lights are working.

* Report all crimes immediately to 911.

* Report suspicious persons and activities immediately to 911.

If you encounter a subject in your residence, do not attempt to confront them. Go to a safe place and call 911.

Please notify Campus Security of such incidents as soon as possible so that others in the neighborhood can be alerted.
