A Gonzaga student reported today (December 17) at 1:15 pm that on Saturday, December 14, 2013 around 12:30 a.m., while walking with another student near the intersection of Sharp & Hamilton, a man approximately 30 years of age exited a vehicle and struck the student in the face.  According to the student, the man then got back into the vehicle and drove away.  The student was not able to provide a description of the man, nor of the vehicle.  GU Security and Spokane Police were not notified at the time of the incident.

 If you have to walk, do so in groups especially after dark. Try to use well-lit, busy routes. Be aware of your surroundings. Avoid secluded areas such as alleyways.

• Report suspicious persons or circumstances immediately to GU Security (509-313-2222) or SPD (911).

This person is a person of interest regarding to suspected theft from the Hughes. If you happen to see him on campus, GU Security would like to talk to him. Please call 313-2222.

On September 2, at 1:12 am, three students reported while walking home in the area 1700 N. Cincinnati were physically assaulted.  Two of the students reported while walking, several people approached them and asked them if they were coming from a party.   Both students reported being struck with closed fists to the face by two females from this group.  A third student attempted to provide assistance However; he was pushed away by a male assumed to be with the group.  The three students manage to flee the area and get to an apartment complex nearby and call GU Security and Spokane Police Department.  Upon arrival of security and the police, they reviewed security video from the complex, which showed a group of at least fifteen to twenty were with the primary perpetrators.  The police completed an initial investigation and informed the students the assault would be investigated further.  The students did not request medical attention.

These two individuals removed a folding chair and tent belonging to students from the Coughlin garage today. They were later observed at WSU Riverpoint. If you see them on or near campus, please contact Gonzaga Security at 509-313-2222.

Security Notice – Attempted Robbery reported

This afternoon a Gonzaga student reported around 930PM last night (July 31) while walking with another student in the 200 block of Sinto, they were approached by a white male medium build, average height, dark curly hair wearing black shorts and a white shirt.  The students also reported the man was riding a BMX style bicycle. On approach, the man demanded they hand over their money.  The students also stated the man had his hand in a bag leading them to believe he may have been armed.  However, both students stated the man never brandished a firearm.  The students were able to run to a populated area and the man left the area. The two students did not contact GU Security or Spokane Police at the time of the incident.  Although the descriptions from this security notice and the notice sent July 31 are similar, they do not appear to be the same man. A report was filed with Spokane Police Department and they are investigating.

Security Notice –Robbery reported Division Street

Employees at the Zip’s located on Division Street reported to 911 that around 9:40pm a white male, balding, unknown age wearing a white t-shirt, black shorts and white athletic shoes robbed the location.  According to initial reports to responding police officers, the man did not brandish a weapon. However, Spokane Police have not determined if a weapon was or was not involved.   Spokane Police initially established a perimeter from Division to Astor around 9:55pm in an attempt to locate the man.  Spokane Police relayed to Gonzaga Security that the man might have headed east bound towards campus.  At 10:00pm, the police extended the perimeter to Dakota.   At 10:10pm, SPD officers terminated the perimeter, and cleared the area.  A sweep of the area was conducted by responding SPD officers without locating the man.   The man’s direction of travel is unknown at this time.  The police are still conducting interviews and gathering information.

These two subjects are persons of interest in a theft of a student’s backpack from the Law School locker area on April 12 at about 6:00 PM.  A police report has been filed. Call Campus Security at 2222 if you see them on or near campus.

This non-student is believed to frequent Foley Library and the Cog, and recently left a note soliciting personal relationships with others.  Although information is limited we believe he may be a registered Level 1 sex offender. Level 1 sex offenders present the lowest risk for re-offense to the community at large. Campus Security is following up with law enforcement to obtain more information and/or confirmation. In the meantime, Campus Security would like to talk with him if you see him on campus. Please call 313-2222.

These two subjects are persons of interest in a theft of a stereo and Ipod from a student’s vehicle last night in the Coughlin garage at about 11:30 PM. We believe the subject in the first photo may be the same person of interest in the backpack theft at Coughlin last week. A police report has been filed. A student reported her black backpack containing books and school work missing from where she had left it outside the bookstore. A review of video showed this person of interest picking the backpack up and walking away. Please call Campus Security at 313-2222 if you see this person or know who he is.

At about 11:30 PM last night, alert students at Coughlin Hall advised Gonzaga Security of a suspicious male. Gonzaga Security contacted the subject, and subsequently trespassed him. Upon review of video from the garage, it was noted that the subject was extremely interested in the bikes at the racks. He was also observed carrying a white box (see lower left on ground in pictures) about the size of a pair of boltcutters. Please call us immediately at 313-2222 if you see him on or near campus.

 This person was observed in Catherine-Monica acting suspiciously on August 5 and August 19 and trespassed from campus.  He is not affiliated with Gonzaga. Please call GU security at 313-2222 if you see him on or near campus.

At 12:30 PM today, a student reported to campus security that she awoke from a nap to find a male subject in her room holding her wallet. The subject left the wallet and exited the room, and the residence hall. A credit card was determined to be missing from the wallet. The subject, a white male approximately 60 years old and well-dressed, is believed to be the same person of interest in previous burglaries and  thefts on campus http://blogs.gonzaga.edu/campo/2011/06/14/person-of-interest-6/ If you see this subject on campus, please contact Campus Security immediately at 313-2222.

• Do not leave doors propped and unattended, even for short periods of time.
• Do not allow access to restricted areas unless you are sure the person is authorized to be there.
• Call Campus Security immediately if you see suspicious persons in or around campus buildings.

This person was observed checking several bike racks on the west campus and was uncooperative when contacted. If you see him on campus, please contact campus security at 313-2222.
