Driving in Spokane

Driving to Oregon

To all drivers: I would like to remind you of all your responsibilities in the state of Washington:

–          You must obtain a Washington State Driver’s License within one year of living in Washington. Until then, make sure you always carry your driver’s license with you, preferably your national license (the one from your country) AND the International Driver’s License. Once you are ready to get your Washington license, this is the information given by the Department of Licensing:

If you’re from another country

  • If you have a valid German, South Korean, or British Columbia driver license, you may get a Washington State driver license by following the steps on this page.
  • If you’ve moved to Washington from another country or a Canadian province not mentioned above, you must complete all the steps to getting your first license.
  • If you’re visiting Washington State from another country, you may use your out-of-country driver license for up to 1 year.”

–          You must of course be a safe driver as well, and follow all the rules of the road, including following the speed limit, and much more. You can review all the rules of the road on this webpage: http://www.dol.wa.gov/driverslicense/docs/driverguide-en.pdf

Driving in the Snow

As the cold weather is coming, you will probably encounter snow and ice on the road. This requires that you change your driving style.
