Congratulations to DPLS grad Dr. Josh Misner!

Posted by: ferch | February 16, 2014 | No Comment |

GU Doctoral Leadership grad Dr. Josh Misner wrote a very compelling article for the Huffington Post recently, and here’s a link to it:

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/josh-misner-phd/to-the-ticket-agent-at-the-delta-counter_b_4733642.html

Happily, the original article went viral, being shared over 70K times from the original source and tens of thousands more from within Facebook.  In the last week, it has also been reprinted through Rupert Murdoch’s news networks in Australia, and is going into production to be made into a short independent film in Portugal.

The article looks at personal and relational leadership from the perspective of the significant power that exists in asking forgiveness of others, especially in situations where it is not expected.   Josh stated of the article,  “I am humbled by the outpouring of support of others, especially in hearing how the story has inspired other fathers to take a moment to be mindful in their responses to others, especially when their children are watching.”

Hello All,

If you are at the dissertation stage of your work here at Gonzaga University, please do consider applying for this unique scholars award given through the Greenleaf Center for Servant-Leadership.

I have been honored to serve as a board member for this award through the Greenleaf Center since the award’s inception some time ago.  The award is a great opportunity for new and developing scholars.

Our own Dr. Kae Reynolds, who graduated last year, won this award previously for her groundbreaking work on the nature of women’s leadership, featuring a balance of feminine and masculine characteristics in the context of servant-leadership through a feminist lens.  Great job Dr. Reynolds!

Respectfully,

Dr. Shann Ferch

Here’s the website:

https://greenleaf.org/research-scholars/

And here’s the description of this unique scholarship opportunity:

The program is administered through The National Forum on Higher Education for the Public Good at the University of Michigan.

The goals of the program are (1) to inspire a new generation of critical scholarship based on the concepts of servant leadership that were articulated by Robert K. Greenleaf; (2) to support rigorous empirical studies that offer evidence of the impact of servant leadership on the health and effectiveness of organizations and communities; and (3) to build a nurturing community of academic researchers, practitioners, and students who study and teach servant leadership.

SCHOLARSHIP AWARDS

The Greenleaf Center will sponsor up to five awards each year for pre-tenured faculty, early career practitioners, and advanced graduate students who engage in research that explores servant leadership. Greenleaf Scholars will be selected by an international review committee comprised of faculty members from the following public and private universities in the United States and overseas, including:
