We welcome to campus alumni of the esteemed Men’s Glee Club this weekend at Gonzaga. Since its first performance in April 1930, the Men’s Glee Club is a fondly remembered and integral part of Gonzaga’s history. Under the direction of Lyle W. Moore, the club became nationally acclaimed and was well received in Spokane from the start. A highlight for the club was when it performed with Bing Crosby on ABC radio in 1949.
Lyle W. Moore joined the faculty of Gonzaga in 1928 and over 80 years later his legacy remains – not only with the Glee Club reunion – but through the Lyle W. Moore Scholarship. Seven students this academic year are receiving scholarship monies and serve as Lyle W. Moore Scholars.
During the reunion this weekend, we celebrate our Glee Club’s history and the memory of Lyle W. Moore as alumni of the Glee Club and a select group of current students serenade the University community in song.
If you know the tune, join in…
“Bulldogs of Gonzaga
Ready to sink their teeth and bite, ready to fight
Bulldogs of Gonzaga
Guarding the fame of the blue and white…”
