I am so proud to be able to call Ron and Kathie my Mom and Dad. They have inspired me throughout my life to do the best that I can and to share the gifts that I have been given with others. Wonderful article. I’m proud to have been these guys roommate at Gonzaga. They were my main support helping my through my duties as Spike the bulldog mascot. They are some of the best people on the planet. They both have great integrity, selflessness, and make the planet a better place to live. Both of them change the energy in the room anytime they walk in and I am still proud to call them my friends. Lee Mauney

39 years ago 8 young Gonzaga freshman women met in Catherine Monica and have remained best friends for life. We were referred to as the “Ducks” because we stuck close together like a family of feathered friends. To this day, the Ducks flock together once a year. It started with our own weddings (6 out of the 8 married GU men), and now we are attending the weddings of our children (4 GU kids graduated, and 3 GU Florence). We make a point to get together annually, even without a special occasion.

The 8 of us live up and down the West coast. We cherish our friendship and are blessed Gonzaga brought us all together.

Cy and Rosemary are the heart and soul of the Yakima Gonzaga Alumni Chapter, as well as being involved in many other aspects of the Yakima Community. Their community leadership, and their friendly character have always inspired me.

Rosemary, my high school counselor, enabled me to attend GU (71-75) by encouraging me to visit, and helping me to receive a scholarship for students from Yakima. I saw her and Cy at the big reunion in October 2012. Thanks, Mrs. Rief, you helped change my life.

Rosemary coordinated the Yakima Alumni Chapter when I was GU’s Alumni Director. Rosemary and Cy were a big influence in uniting the Yakima Alumni. I always appreciated their enthusiastic efforts on behalf of the Alumni Association.

My freshman daughter has been tele funding this semester. It sounds to me like she’s received excellent training, has experienced success in her job, is financially rewarded and enjoys the flexibility of the work schedule. I’m SO thankful that she has this great work opportunity!

Was lucky enough to play baseball with Jimmy in high school. He was a year older than me so I had the chance to look up to him. What he did better than anyone else was just enjoy the game. It wasn’t a stress for Jimmy, he would often take AB’s left handed (he was a righty) without our coaches consent. Dude was a pretty good switch hitter. I know a lot of kids on my team who miss him dearly and our high school community had some great guys a year older than me who still often talk and post about him. Rest joyfully Jim, you deserve it!
