Only Zag fans understand…

Rain or shine, win or lose, tents will be lining the sides of McCarthey Athletic Center in anticipation for the Zags to storm the court. Some may wonder, “Is a front row seat worth the frostbite and restless nights of sleeping outside in the cold?” For those that brave the bone-chilling temperatures, every moment is worth it and is a feeling only a true Zag fan understands.

When I was a freshman, I have to admit my tent was right in the midst of all the frost-covered fans. At the time, nothing sounded better than waking up floating on a puddle of melted snow because a front row seat and five seconds of camera time made it all worthwhile. Now as a wise senior, my camping days are behind me, but the “warmth” of my tent city memories will not be forgotten.

I’ve found I’m not the only senior who has turned to warmer ways of watching the game. Senior Sammy Ross, director of communication for GSBA said, “I think seniors finally caught the clue that camping out only leads to laryngitis, strep throat, and mono. Sleeping in below 30 degree weather multiple nights is not sane.”

Although with today’s high of 46 and a low of 37, the tent city dwellers will not be experiencing any snow flurries but they still may need some extra blankets and hot coffee to keep their Zag spirit alive!
