New Charitable Gift Annuity Rates

New charitable gift annuity rates are effective July 1, 2011. For some age ranges the rates are decreasing, while others are increasing. Depending on your age, it may be a good idea to set up a CGA before July 1 to capitalize on the current rates.

Some fast CGA facts:

  • A CGA (Charitable Gift Annuity) is a contract with Gonzaga University in which you agree to make an irrevocable donation to GU, GU agrees to make fixed payments to you each year for your lifetime, and the portion of your gift that remains at your death helps support Gonzaga University.
  • The rate of payment from a CGA is determined by the ages of those receiving payments at the time of the contribution—the older the recipients, the higher the rate. Payment rates are locked in for the duration of the gift annuity.
  • The benefits of a CGA are many, but most notably a CGA provides you with tax-favored lifetime payments and offers immediate income tax savings.
