Payton Lieske (’20) knew since he was very young that he wanted to turn his passion for mechanical engineering into his future career. When it came time to choose a college, Lieske knew he was looking for a tight-knit community with a small “homey” campus and an exceptional engineering department to help him pursue his goal. He found all of these and more at Gonzaga University.
The community Lieske joined at GU delivered far beyond his hopes. When Lieske isn’t studying in his rigorous engineering courses, he likes to spend his free time jamming on the saxophone or guitar with his fellow Zags in the Bulldog Band as well as volunteering and participating in various clubs around campus.
Originally, his interest in engineering stemmed from a fascination Lieske had in structures of electrical circuits and calculus structures. He hopes to use his passion and understanding of these complex concepts to do good for others in his community.
“With what I receive from Gonzaga,” said Lieske, “I will make a big positive impact in the Professional Engineering community and I will grow as person through the service activity opportunities and internships.”
Lieske is truly grateful for the scholarships that make his Gonzaga experience possible.
