The Gonzaga Alumni Mentoring Program, or GAMP, was designed for GU students and alumni to come together to help students with making career decisions. The program matches current students, as well as graduates, with alumni who are in similar career fields, geographic locations or who share other interests. The goal of the program is to establish a relationship between the mentee and mentor that will lead to better career decisions and allow the student an opportunity to network and increase job opportunities. Students are able to learn how and what they need to do to fulfill their career aspirations and what steps they need to take.
Establishing these types of relationships while students are still in school can lead to summer internships and give the students a real world example of what the future duties of a job entail. Enrolling in the program is easy; students are asked to fill out information that lists their major, what kinds of work they hope to do and what part of the country they are interested in. Once completed, the GAMP team works to find mentors who will be a successful match. With over 2,000 mentors registered, GU students are truly benefitting from generous alumni.
If you are interested in becoming a mentor, please contact the GAMP Director, Kevin Pratt pratt@gonzaga.edu or check out the GAMP webpage at http://www.zagsonline.org/gamp.
