Four out of five entering freshmen will complete their degrees at Gonzaga. For many colleges and universities, this would be a great success rate. However, it is not good enough for the Gonzaga community, which wants every student to succeed. In response, Gonzaga created the Gonzaga Scholarship Challenge to raise funds for scholarships that would offer maximum and immediate benefit to students.
The Gonzaga Scholarship Challenge brought awareness to the changing landscape of federal and state spending for higher education. In both levels of government, budget proposals call for reductions to student financial aid, just as more students than ever are seeking access to obtaining a degree in higher education. The money raised in this initiative will help subsidize these government budget cuts. Through the Work Award Fund and Completion Fund, two of the major initiatives of the Scholarship Challenge, students who are eligible for state work study and some of our most financially needy students affected by cuts to the Pell Grant program are given hope to finish out their degree at Gonzaga.
Last year, the Gonzaga community provided an overwhelming response to the university’s challenge and $4.5 million dollars were raised for student scholarships. We continue our Gonzaga Scholarship Challenge this year with a goal of raising $5 million. It’s not too late to make a contribution and have a lasting impact!
Help students today who are experiencing financial hardship with your participation in the Gonzaga Scholarship Challenge.
