Getting Serious About Academic Planning
Autumn greetings, parents and family members of our returning students. By now, you know the ins and outs of a semester, and are probably aware your students are taking midterm exams as you read this blog. Later this month, they’ll be collecting mid-term grade reports from their advisors and (we hope) engaging in well-thought conversation with their advisor about their current standing in courses, what they can do now to improve their grades, as well as guidance on their spring courses. Most students will have a major by sophomore year, and many will have visions of study abroad, whether it be Florence, Ireland, Australia, China, Japan, or other destinations. Some students may have multiple majors, minors or even concentrations they hope to complete by the end of their 4th year. College is a huge investment for families, and you want to make sure your student is fulfilling their dreams, alongside their requirements for a Gonzaga degree, in a timely manner. Academic Services is available to help students with their academic planning needs. We’ve created a quick and easy guide on creating plans to graduation, located on our website. Just for parents and families, we’re also hosting Academic Planning 101 Sessions during Fall Family Weekend, October 22-24. We hope to see you there, here, and anywhere in between!
