Question: Why should freshmen attend the Portland or Seattle Trek?
Answer: Freshmen are encouraged to participate because it provides an early introduction into some important career development experiences and conversations. The speakers at the luncheon, the networking social, and women’s symposium all offer great career advice and perspective that encourage students to be proactive and become engaged in their classroom learning and campus and community activities.
Question: How, as a parent, can I participate this year?
Answer: Consider attending the networking social at the Trek. The networking socials are intended as an opportunity for students to network with professionals and we encourage alumni, parents, and friends to attend and share their experiences with students. Also, consider participating in our career fairs as a representative of your company.
Question: Is it a possibility to become an excursion host in the future?
Answer: If a parent is interested in becoming involved in the Portland or Seattle Trek, we would love to hear from you. The GAMP/Career Center Team can answer various questions regarding logistics for hosting an excursion in the future. If you are interested in participating, contact GAMP at gamp@gonzag.edu
Question: My student’s field or industry isn’t represented in excursion hosts, why should they attend?
Answer: Students will certainly be more interested in attending excursions that have direct relevance to their career goals but there is still value in some of the events. The speakers offer great advice on general career development topics and encourage the students to be proactive in their career development. There are networking opportunities to meet individuals from a variety of career fields and a chance to practice the networking skills and gain confidence interacting with professionals.

Answer: The GAMP/Career Center team will be available via e-mail to answer questions regarding logistics for the Trek. In addition, we are happy to review resumes over the Christmas holiday. E-mail resumes directly to careercenter@gonzaga.edu. We also encourage students to contact Gonzaga alumni in fields or industries for further career exploration.
