Helpful Health Center Tidbits
- The Spokane Regional Health District has reported that we have an epidemic of whooping cough in our area. Please access this website for more information: www.srhd.org
- The Gonzaga University Student Heath Center recommends a Tdap booster for all college age students to help prevent whooping cough. Students may get the vaccine from your personal doctor, or at the Gonzaga University Student Health Center.
- We also recommend the meningitis vaccine since students living in residence halls are at slightly increased risk for bacterial meningitis. Meningitis can be devastating and a vaccination can reduce the risk. The CDC (Center for Disease Control) recommends a booster between the ages of 16-21. The Health Center has the vaccine and students may take it when they arrive on campus.
- It is a mandatory policy at Gonzaga University to have had 2 doses of MMR (measles, mumps, rubella) vaccine, and to provide proof by submitting your immunization record to the Health Center. The Health Center also has the MMR vaccine, or we can to a MMR titer to check for immunity.
- The Student Health Center is located at 704 East Sharp (corner of Dakota and Sharp). Students may make an appointment or walk-in, 509-313-4066. We are open Monday – Friday from 8 -5, except Tuesday we open at 10 am.
