Hello again, Zag Families!
Greetings from the Career Center & GAMP office. We enjoyed meeting many parents and families during orientation weekend. We heard loud and clear that career services are important to you, so keep an eye on our segment of this newsletter and our website for information about upcoming events.
Over the summer we have been hard at work collecting tons of internships and career opportunities for Zags. Now we are counting on meeting your student so we can help her or him access the many resources, programs and services that we offer. Our team looks forward to assisting your student throughout all four years of the college experience. We welcome you to partner with us as we guide your student through his or her career exploration and development.
Here are some upcoming events:
Tuesday, September 17th—Info Session with Southwest Airlines. Let us help your student find his or her Window of Opportunity for this incredible No Limits summer internship program.
September 25-27th—New York Trek. We take students to New York to meet with some big time financial institutions, including Wells Fargo, TIAA-CREF, and even a visit to the NY Stock Exchange! This is a selective Trek and your student can apply for next year’s trip in March.
Thursday, October 3rd—Resumania! This is a BYOR event: Bring Your Own Resume. We provide a pizza lunch and spend time looking through your student’s resume with them. If they don’t have a resume yet, we can help with that, too! *This event occurs the first Thursday of each month.
Week of October 14th—Spokane Trek Week! More on this one next month, but be sure to get your student on board. We have a ton of stuff crammed into that week: Speed Mock Interviews and Networking Tips on Monday, Engineering & Computer Science Majors Career & Internship Fair on Tuesday, All Majors Career & Internship Fair on Wednesday, and three amazing Excursions to local Spokane companies.
Career Center & GAMP Reoccurring events and activities:
Every Tuesday—Drop in time from 12-1. Just drop in for anything from resume reviews to internship and interviewing advice!
First Thursday of each month—Resumania! See above—we provide pizza, and resume help. What a way to spend a lunch hour!
Every Monday-Friday—Scheduled, individual appointments. Your student can make an appointment to meet with one of our career coaches individually. Request an appointment on ZagTrax.net.
Tuesday-Thursday, 2pm-5pm—Walk In Time. We have career coaches on-call for the whole afternoon so your student can just pop in whenever and get some assistance, no appointment necessary!
As you can see, we have a lot of amazing opportunities and events coming up. Encourage your student to take advantage of all of our events, and to come see us early and often. Hope to see many of you around campus for Fall Family Weekend at the end of October!
