Cuisine with a Cause

Since 1887, Gonzaga University has upheld a philosophy of educating the whole person – mind, body and spirit. “Cura personalis,” or care for the individual, is the motto student and faculty members carry with them every day. The contagious Jesuit spirit that flows throughout campus is inspiring. Zag Dining by Sodexo wants to embody this spirit in everything we do. We believe it is our purpose to provide more than just a place for students to eat. Our team is composed of hard-working, energetic, community oriented people. We love caring for our fellow Zags, and we want to share this passion with the community as well.
This is why we offer numerous opportunities for students to work with us to give back to our local community. From students and faculty making snack bags for hungry children, to participating in the Second Harvest Food Drive, Zag Dining is committed to engaging the University in serving not only each other but the community as well. Several times a year, we set up a PB&J donation station in the dining hall. Students take a few minutes to assemble sandwiches, and by the end of lunch, 1,000 sandwiches are packed and ready. The sandwiches go straight from the students’ hands to the grateful children at local shelters within hours. These activities not only bring nourishment to children, but an overwhelming sense of comradery to our campus culture. By working closely with service organizations here in Spokane, Zag Dining is able to truly enrich the community with the help of our students, employees and faculty.
So, as your family member attends Gonzaga University, just remember that they are doing so much more than just sitting in a classroom. They are involved in making the world a better place. The Zag Dining team proudly stands behind students by giving them the tools they need to lead the charge towards social responsibility and sustainability in our communities.
